Buses and trams run very busily around Milan. Every stop is clearly marked on the sides of every street. The best precaution is maintaining a safe distance between you and the tram. Sometimes the trams are forced to stop abruptly so as to pick passengers at various stops. The principal railway station in Milan is Stazione Centrale. The station is a fantastic architectural marvel that dominates the northeastern region of Milan. Trains from this station cover almost every area of the city as well as other major Italian cities such as Rome, Florence and Bologna. It takes only four and a half hours for a train to reach Rome from Milan. At the platform level is where the Tourist Information Center is located. The center is partly concealed in a shopping arcade. The ticket hall can be seen from this location. It is on the floor below and many automatic machines make the process of buying tickets easy and fast.
